Man Gets Probation in Forgery, Theft Case
CLINTON, Iowa (AP) — A 20-year-old eastern Iowa woman has been given two years of probation and deferred judgments for theft and forgery.
The Clinton Herald reports that Amanda Chance was sentenced last week by Judge Mary Howes in Clinton.
Under deferred judgments, the convictions are removed from Chance's record if she successfully completes probation. Chance also was ordered to pay restitution of $12,000.
Authorities say Chance, of DeWitt, stole a check from her employer. Authorities say Chance made out the check for $12,000, signed it and deposited it into her account in August.
She faces a similar case in Scott County.
