Man Gets 30 Years in Fort Dodge Arson Case

FORT DODGE, Iowa (AP) - A 23-year-old man convicted in a Fort Dodge arson case has been given 30 years in prison.

The Messenger of Fort Dodge says Tanner King was sentenced on Monday in Webster County District Court. He'd pleaded guilty on Jan. 27 to burglary, firearm possession, theft and to aiding and abetting arson. He was charged in connection with the June 21, 2013, fire at Bemrich Electric and Telephone Inc.

King testified Monday in support of his request to have his plea rescinded on the aiding and abetting. He said he'd been assaulted by three men in a parking lot just two days before pleading guilty. King said he felt threatened into making the guilty plea.

The judge didn't believe King and denied his motion.
