Man Dies in Collision with Train in Southwest Iowa

PERCIVAL, Iowa (AP) — An elderly Nebraska man has died in a collision with a train in southwest Iowa.

The Council Bluffs Nonpareil reports that 84-year-old Robert Aksamit, of Nebraska City, died in the Friday morning crash.

The Iowa State Patrol says Aksamit was eastbound about two miles north of Percival when he failed to yield at a crossing, and his pickup was hit by a northbound train.

Aksamit was declared dead at the scene of the crash.
