Man Arrested in Early Morning Convenience Store Robbery

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - One man is behind bars after Cedar Rapids Police say he robbed a local convenience store Sunday morning.

It happened at about 4 a.m. Sunday at the Kwik Shop at 2910 Center Point Rd NE in Cedar Rapids. Officers say 24-year-old Dennis Dawkins allegedly went into the store, showed a hand gun and demanded cash. He got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, no one was injured.

A witness gave police a description of a possible suspect vehicle. Officers say they stopped that car near the intersection of B Avenue and 27th Street NE in Cedar Rapids a short time later.

Police say after an investigation they arrested Dawkins for robbery.
