Man Arrested Following Davenport Standoff
DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - A two-hour standoff between a Davenport man and local authorities has ended peacefully.
The Scott County Sheriff's Office says the suspect was taken into custody around 11 a.m. Thursday, after speaking with a negotiator. No injuries were reported.
The Quad-City Times reports the man is accused of shooting a weapon at a sheriff's deputy who was serving him an eviction notice. The deputy says he entered an apartment unit, and a short time later a single shot was reported.
A four-block area of central Davenport was closed during the standoff. It ended about two hours later, as officials started a conversation with the man. Authorities have not officially released his name. Charges are pending.
