Man Arrested After Computers Stolen from Black Hawk Co. Democratic Party Headquarters
WATERLOO, Iowa - Waterloo police have arrested a man in connection with the theft of two laptop computers from the headquarters of the Black Hawk County Democratic party.
Local party chair Pat Sass told KCRG.com that the computers and a jar of change disappeared Wednesday morning after several people came into the office posing as a cleaning crew. Sass said the people in the office coordinating the return of yard signs didn't know that the party did not have a cleaning crew.
Sass said that one of the computers belongs to Congressman Braley's office, the other belongs to someone with the Obama for America team that shares the office.
Waterloo Police said the computers were recovered when the man went to a local computer store to get the passwords erased, as both laptops were electronically locked. Police are still investigating the case.
