Man Airlifted After Crashing Into Horse Near Onslow

JONES COUNTY, Iowa - The driver a vehicle that struck a horse on a Jones County highway was airlifted to a hospital late Thursday, authorities said.
Terrance Ward, of Clarence, was southbound on Highway 136 north of Onslow around 11:45 p.m. when he hit a horse in the roadway, according to the sheriff’s office. He was taken by helicopter to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Ward was listed in fair condition Friday morning, hospital spokeswoman Sarah Corizzo said.
Authorities said the horse did not survive the accident. An investigation in the crash was continuing.
