Man Accused of Using Sword to Break Church Windows
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - Cedar Rapids police say officers arrested a man who was allegedly using a samurai sword to break windows at a downtown church.
Police say in a news release that officers were called Tuesday afternoon to First Presbyterian Church, where a man was using the sword to break windows in two doors.
When officers arrived, the man had entered the church and was confronting the church's pastor.
Officers apprehended the man without incident. There were no injuries.
Police charged 34-year-old Jerrald Meek with 3rd degree criminal mischief and carrying weapons.
He was taken to the Linn County Jail.
Online court records weren't available to indicate whether Meek had an attorney.
