Linn County Opens Second Satellite Voting Location

By Kelli Sutterman

LINN COUNTY, Iowa — A second early voting location opened Tuesday in the Lindale Mall.

Voters can come and cast their ballots Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11a.m. to 5 p.m. The polls are located in the mall’s food court area near Hu Hot Mongolian Grill.

Linn County Election Deputy Tim Box says the rain might be to blame for their slow start. But they have high hopes for the early voting locations.

Last week, voters could get ahead of Election Day at the Armstrong Building in downtown Cedar Rapids for two days. But only 100 people voted during those two days. So far at the second location at the mall brought in only 37 voters on its first day.

Election Day for the local option sales and service tax is Tuesday, May 3rd. If passed the measure would impose a one percent sales tax for 20 years in the jurisdictions that approve it.
