MIDDLE AMANA, Iowa - A lightning strike is believed to have started a fire at a bed and breakfast in Middle Amana. Around noon Saturday volunteer fire departments from both Iowa and Johnson Counties responded to Rose's Place, 1007 26th Ave., on a report of fire at the building.

Witnesses living in the area said they heard a loud bang and saw a flash around the time of the fire. No official cause has been released by fire investigators, who remain on the scene as of 2:15 p.m.

The building sustained moderate damage to the attic and roof areas. An official working near the scene said he wasn't aware of any injuries.
