MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) - A Kraft Foods spokeswoman says the layoff of 19 workers at its Mason City plant is intended to be temporary.

Joyce Hodel told the Mason City Globe Gazette that Kraft will re-evaluate the plant's staff situation after the first of the year. She says Kraft routinely adjusts employment at its plants, based on changing consumer preferences and the economy.

Hodel says the 19 employees will be paid through Thanksgiving.

Kraft said in its third-quarter earnings report Wednesday that its revenue had dropped 4.2 percent.
