CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Kirkwood Community College has named a new dean for business and information technology who will not need an introductory tour of the campus.
After a nationwide search, Kirkwood selected Lisa Dutchik, an accounting faculty member at the college’s Iowa City campus. Dutchik, who will assume her new position in January, began at Kirkwood as an adjunct lecturer in 1998 and became a full-time instructor on the college’s Cedar Rapids campus in 2004.
"With her nine years of experience as a full-time faculty member at Kirkwood, she has a strong knowledge of our programs and faculty, especially through her work as a Professional Development Fellow," Bill Lamb, Kirkwood vice president of academic affairs said.
Dutchik is a certified public accountant who began her career in accounting in 1989. She has held roles as an accountant and auditor at McGladrey & Pullen, as well as five years in strategic planning at Harris Corp.
Dutchik earned her bachelor of arts degree in accounting from St. Ambrose University in Davenport and her master of accountancy from the University of Iowa. At Kirkwood she has primarily taught courses in financial accounting and managerial accounting.
Dutchik lives in Iowa City with her husband of 22 years, Bernard, vice president of operations and logistics at ACT.
