Juweid Lawsuit Against UI Dismissed

IOWA CITY, Iowa - A lawsuit against the University of Iowa and several university officials by a former professor has been dismissed in Johnson County District Court.
Malik Juweid asked to withdraw his suit without prejudice and Judge Patrick Grady accepted it in November. In a Dec. 5 motion regarding another matter in the case, Grady said the matter remains dismissed.
Juweid was suing the university and several officials, alleging discrimination.
UI President Sally Mason in August fired Juweid, then a tenured radiology professor, after an internal UI panel found he compromised patient confidentiality and acted inappropriately toward co-workers. Juweid had been on paid leave since 2011.
