Jurors Convict Waterloo Man in Son's Death

  • Photo
WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) A jury has convicted a Waterloo man of several charges in the death of his 17-month-old son.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports jurors on Friday found Daniel John Reddout guilty of involuntary manslaughter, child endangerment causing death and child endangerment multiple acts.

The charges stem from the April 2011 death of Kaleb Reddout. Prosecutors charged that Reddout choked his son in an effort to put him down for a nap at a Cedar Falls motel room.

Closing arguments ended Thursday, and jurors deliberated that afternoon and Friday morning before reaching a verdict.

Reddout was charged with first-degree murder, which carries a mandatory life sentence, but jurors chose to find Reddout guilty of the less serious charges.
