CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Cedar Rapids metro chapter of 100+ Men Who Care will donate $15,400 to Johnson School of the Arts, an elementary school in the Cedar Rapids Community School District.

Representatives from the organization will present a check for the funds during an event scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, March 20 at the school, 355 18th St. SE, Cedar Rapids.

The 100+ Men Who Care group raised the dollars, which will go toward Johnson's Arts Enhance Academics Program. The Parent Teacher Association-funded initiative sponsors a number of classes and activities available to Johnson students before and after school, including Lego League, gospel choir and intramural sports.

"These are programs that we thought were very valuable for their students," said David Sorg, a board member of 100+ Men Who Care. "We knew that we could have a profound impact on the school, the family and their children. ... That impact was something that our group was very excited about."
