CEDAR RAPIDS – Police discovered a boat and trailer propped up against a utility pole Tuesday evening in northeast Cedar Rapids.

Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said the 14-foot boat and trailer struck a wooden pole sometime before 10:15 p.m. in the 600 block of J Avenue NE, and the driver left the scene. The bow of the boat was elevated along the pole and a guy wire.

A boat ramp to the Cedar River is just west of the crash site.

The trailer and boat were towed away and impounded until the owner could be located.
