Iowa's Big Lottery Mystery Still Unsolved
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Iowans will have to wait a little longer to learn the story behind a winning lottery ticket mysteriously turned in minutes before the deadline for a $14.3 million jackpot.
Iowa Lottery spokeswoman Mary Neubauer said Wednesday that Lottery officials still have not met with Crawford Shaw, a New York attorney who signed for the winning ticket, and do not have a meeting set. Shaw had vowed in an interview with The Associated Press that he would come to Iowa this week to reveal the details. But he didn't return a phone call Wednesday. Shaw is representing an investment trust that shipped the ticket to attorneys in Des Moines on Dec. 29.
