DES MOINES, Iowa (KCCI) - Jessica Passick, her son, boyfriend, and his son were almost home last Sunday morning from a family Christmas celebration in Waterloo, when their SUV went over a bridge, and on to the street below in Des Moines.
Passick remembers hitting a patch of ice, and the vehicle turning, colliding with the bridge and then going over the side. Passers-by rushed to help everyone out of the car, including Jessica...who was pinned and had to be pulled out of the back.
Jessica remembers the moments leading up to the crash. she says she turned around and told the other in the vehicle she loved them.
but doesn't really remember much after they landed upside down.
The crash left Jessica with a broken neck in 3 places. In the coming weeks, Jessica will recover by keeping very still, in a halo around her head and neck, leaving her unable to work.
Passick says she will be unable to do much for a few months, including being able to go to work.
She will be in a neck brace for months...unable to work, with mounting medical bills.
While Jessica has a long road ahead of her, for now, she's remembering what's important, that everyoen made it out alive.
If you'd like to help Jessica, a recovery fund set up through Wells Fargo, under the Jessica Passick Recovery fund.
