Iowa Native Killed in Afghanistan

CASCADE, Iowa - An Iowa native has died while serving in Afghanistan.

Army Sergeant Michael Ristau had been living in Rockford, Illinois, but he was a native of Cascade. The Army says Ristau died from injuries he suffered in a bomb explosion July 13th. He was serving with the 520 Battle Company, an infantry division based in Washington State.

This was his second overseas deployment. The 27-year-old also served in Iraq from June 2006 to August 2007.

Surviving him are his parents, who live in Cascade, his wife, and their young child.
