Iowa Misses Powerball Jackpot But Someone Won $2M
OSKALOOSA, Iowa (AP) — No one in Iowa won Powerball's $338.3 million jackpot this weekend, but a winning ticket worth $2 million was sold in Oskaloosa. Iowa lottery officials say the $2 million winning ticket matched the first five numbers but not the Powerball. The ticket was worth $2 million because the buyer purchased a power play option to double the prize. Shelby Sharp, who works at the Kum & Go that sold the winner, said Sunday morning that no one had contacted the store about claiming their winnings yet. Four other tickets sold in Iowa are worth $10,000 because they matched four numbers. Those were sold in Council Bluffs, Donnellson, Davenport and Des Moines. The Illinois Lottery announced in a tweet that a winning ticket worth $1 million was sold in East Dubuque. The overall jackpot-winning ticket was sold in New Jersey. The winning numbers were 17-29-31-52-53 and Powerball 31.
