CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — A Cedar Rapids man has been sentenced to 27 years in federal prison for dealing methamphetamine from his garage for four years.

The U.S. Attorney's office for northern Iowa says 57-year-old Kurt Alexander was sentenced Thursday for his conviction on several counts of dealing crystal meth. He also was ordered to pay a personal money judgment of $50,000.

Evidence at Alexander's trial showed he sold large amounts of methamphetamine to several people from 2008 until his arrest in February 2012. During one transaction, prosecutors say, Alexander traded methamphetamine for several firearms.

There is no parole under federal sentencing guidelines.
