Iowa Man Accused Of Detaining Girlfriend, Threatening Her With Machete
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Police say a Des Moines man detained his girlfriend for 17 hours while physically assaulting her and threatening her with a machete.
The 34-year-old woman told police that she and 36-year-old Brian Michael Case began arguing in their home around 3 a.m. Wednesday. She says Case blocked her from leaving multiple times and eventually forced her into the basement.
The woman told police she eventually escaped and ran to a gas station. Case is accused of following her and bringing her back to their home. Witnesses at the gas station contacted police, who then arrived at the house.
The Des Moines Register reports Case has been charged with domestic assault causing injury and false imprisonment. He remains at the Polk County Jail. Court records do not list an attorney.
