DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) Lawmakers are back in Des Moines as the legislative assembly convenes for a session with low expectations.

The House and Senate will rap gavels and start work Monday morning for a planned 100-day session.

Gov. Terry Branstad has offered several proposals that legislative leaders will likely support. They include efforts to expand Internet access, reduce school bullying and give greater aid to veterans.

Legislative sessions held in election years are typically shorter and less ambitious as legislators want to finish their work and get back home to campaign for re-election.

This year, Branstad also is up for re-election.
