Iowa Deputies Vow Not to Shave for Cancer Group
CHARLES CITY, Iowa (AP) - Sheriff's deputies in Floyd County will look increasingly scruffy in the coming weeks as they vow not to shave as part of a fundraising effort to aid people with cancer.
The beards, mustaches and goatees will stay beginning Friday to help benefit the Floyd County Cancer Friends organization. Each deputy will donate at least $10.
The Charles City Press reports the deputies will keep the scruffy looks through the end of November. In the meantime, they're encouraging family, friends, and others to donate to the group.
Floyd County Cancer Friends helps patients in the county with support for medical expenses and travel.
