ALTOONA, Iowa — Repairs to an Interstate 80 bridge are expected to take about a week after a backhoe hit the bridge on Thursday.

The crash was reported about 10:50 a.m. at the intersection of Interstate 80 with Northeast Hubbell Avenue/Highway 6.

Iowa DOT officials said westbound I-80 traffic will be restricted to the right lane, so emergency repairs can be made to the bridge.

Westbound I-80 motorists should expect traffic delays until the bridge repairs are completed and may want to consider taking alternate routes to avoid delays, DOT officials said.

The emergency repairs are expected to be completed in about a week.
