IOWA CITY, Iowa - The timetable of a plan to open several new schools and close an elementary school in Iowa City will be released Tuesday night. The phasing plan will provide target dates for when the district will open new elementary schools and a third high school. It will also give a timetable for the closure of Hoover elementary school.

District director of community relations, Kate Moreland, said the school board is being presented an initial "draft" focusing on phasing.

The draft will be presented to the school board at a meeting Tuesday night. A news briefing has been scheduled for nine o'clock.

The original plan was approved by the Iowa City Community School Board several months ago. In the time since superintendent Steve Murley has worked to create a phasing plan. Murley will ask the board for feedback at tonight's session.
