Iowa City Police Investigate Attempted Armed Robbery

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Iowa City Police Department is investigating an early morning strong arm robbery.

Officers were called to the Kum and Go on Mormon Trek Boulevard at 2:47 a.m. Monday morning for a theft call. Police said the victim reported being assaulted by a subject who demanded cash. The alleged victim was able to flee the scene without giving the assailant any money, police said.

The suspect is described as a black man, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds. He was wearing a black and blue coat, police said.
