Iowa Basketball Player Arrested for Public Intoxication

IOWA CITY - University of Iowa freshman basketball player Kyle Meyer was arrested overnight for public intoxication by University of Iowa police.

Meyer, 18, was taken into custody at a Hillcrest Hall restroom at 12:41 a.m. this morning. He later was released from the Johnson County Jail after paying an undisclosed bond. He was due back in court at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Meyer hails from Alpharetta, Ga., and is one of five incoming freshmen for the Iowa men's basketball team. Classes begin on Monday.
