Investigation at Seven Bridges Park Ends; Autopsies Complete

BREMER COUNTY, Iowa - Authorities have left the rural Bremer County park were bodies believed to be Lyric Cook-Morrissey and Elizabeth Collins were found last week.

And officials have concluded the autopsies of the remains, although the results aren’t finalized.

Hunters found the bodies at 7 Bridge Wildlife Area on Wednesday, concluding the search for the two cousins who were last seen riding their bikes in Evansdale.

Officers with Evansdale police, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, FBI, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Black Hawk and Bremer county sheriff’s offices blocked off the former county park while they processed the scene and gathered evidence for three days.

They left late Friday, and Capt. Rick Abben with the Black Hawk sheriff’s office said the investigation is continuing.

“The evidence that was taken out there and so forth, it’s all got to be processed,” Abben said.

The Iowa Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny completed the autopsies of the remains on Friday, according to Dr. Dennis Klein. He said the results remain pending the outcome of further tests.
