ANKENY, Iowa – Although many have tried to claim the multi-million dollar prize, the investigation continues in the Iowa Lottery winning ticket mystery – the first in its 26-year history.

According to spokesperson Mary Neubauer, officials have had initial discussions with Crawford Shaw, trustee of Hexam Investments Trust – from which a representative had claimed the ticket on his behalf mere hours before the year-old ticket, worth up to $14.3 million, was set to expire Dec. 30.

Where the discussions go, and how long it takes to confirm the winner will completely depend on how the investigation proceeds, Neubauer said.

The jackpot hasn’t been paid out because Iowa Lottery investigators are still in their initial phases of the security process and questioning, she added.
