Inmate Injured After Jumping from Jail's Roof
FORT DODGE, Iowa (AP) — Officials say an inmate at the Webster County jail in fort Dodge was injured when he plunged 40 feet from the roof.
The sheriff's office says 21-year-old Tanner King, of Fort Dodge, jumped from the fourth-floor roof and landed in an alley Wednesday night. He's in a Des Moines hospital, and his condition hasn't been released. Officials say King apparently tried to jump from the jail to the roof of a building next door, a distance of about 22 feet. Lt. Kevin Kruse says it's unclear how King got on the roof of the jail. He says the Law Enforcement Center was recently renovated and has a rooftop exercise area. King was being held on several charges, including burglary and domestic assault. Most Popular
