KNOXVILLE, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say ten people have been injured in a collision involving a school bus near Knoxville.

The Marion County sheriff's office says the accident between a Knoxville Community School bus and a car happened just before 4 p.m. on Monday.

KNIA radio in Knoxville says Fire Chief Mike Roberts says the driver of the car was flown to a hospital, while nine others, including some children, were transported by ambulances or other vehicles. There was no immediate word on the extent of their injuries.

Roberts says seven other children were released to their parents at the scene.

A telephone call to Knoxville School Superintendent Randy Flack was not returned late Monday afternoon.
