Hog Farm Owner Agrees to Pay Fine for Manure Spill
KEOSAUQUA, Iowa - Owners of a southeast Iowa hog farm that spilled thousands of gallons of hog manure into a dry creek have agreed to pay a fine and make improvements to prevent future spills.
The spill happened in November, sending thousands of gallons of manure into a dry creek near Keosauqua.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says the Illinois-based owners will pay a 10-thousand dollar fine.
The farm also will repair manure collection equipment and make other changes an engineer recommended.
