Hills Man Accused Of Falsely Reporting Deputy's Assault

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- A Hills man was arrested Wednesday for falsely claiming his father was assaulted in April by two Johnson County Sheriff's Office deputies.

According to a sheriff's office criminal complaint, on April 19, Bryan B. Ruiz, now 18, came into the sheriff's office to report his father had been assaulted by two deputies. Ruiz claimed the deputies - who are not named - entered Ruiz's father's home in the middle of the night, went to where his father was sleeping on the floor and began to assault him. Ruiz repeated his claims several times, police said.

According to the complaint, Ruiz's claims were found to be false. He now faces one count of making a false report of an indictable crime to a law enforcement agency.
