High School Students Take a Walk through History
ARLINGTON, Iowa - Starmont High School students and teachers took part in a Civil War walk-through Wednesday.
About 500 students from seven surrounding schools made stops at learning stations to hear history of the time period. At the top of every hour, re-enactors fired a cannon.
Four students organized the day-long event.
"I just thought that it would be a great learning experience for everybody," Starmont High School student Kassi Crossman said. "I mean, it's something that is taught throughout the school years, but you don't actually get the gist of it until you can actually see it and do something with it."
Crossman was part of the re-enactment. She played the part of a soldier.
