IOWA CITY, Iowa - The well known “Herky On Parade” public art project will return to the Iowa City area in 2014, Josh Schamberger, president of the Iowa City/Coralville Convention and Visitors Bureau announced Thursday.

“There hasn’t been anything that we’ve done that’s received the response this public art project [did],” said Schamberger. “I think we’ll have 75 to 100 again, and that’s really all we can handle.”

The event will kick-off with the unveiling of three Herky statues at the upcoming FryFest in late August. The statues wont hit the street until 2014. In 2004 the project put 90 decorated Herky’s on area streets, many remain around town.

“They’ll be part of the flock I guess,” Schamberger said.

Details on placement and how to request a Herky have yet to be revealed.

The CVB also announced Thursday that a bike ride will be added to the lineup of FryFest activities in 2013. The gran GABLE will take place Sunday, September 1. More details about the ride will be released at a later date.
