Heat Forcing Some Iowa Schools to Dismiss Early
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - The late-summer heat will be forcing some Iowa school districts to dismiss classes early.
Districts planning to send students home two hours early include those in Dubuque, Iowa City and Tipton.
The Iowa Education Department says upward of 15 percent of the state's schools don't have air conditioning.
The expected high temperatures and humidity have prompted the National Weather Service to issue heat advisories for the entire state through 10 p.m. Tuesday.
