Hazmat Crews Respond to Univ. of Iowa Residence Hall

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Shortly before 2 p.m. Monday, the Johnson County Hazardous Materials Response Team responded to Mayflower Residence Hall in Iowa City along with the Iowa City Fire Department.
According to the university, a package arrived at the dorm's mail room and appeared to be leaking a white, powdery substance. Officials evacuated the front desk area and the mail room.
The University of Iowa said that investigators with the Postal Inspection Service examined the powder and determined it was not hazardous.
