Handgun Found During Waterloo Traffic Stop

WATERLOO, Iowa -- Waterloo police recovered a stolen handgun during a traffic stop Friday morning.
According to police, officers with department's Violent Crime Apprehension Team made a traffic stop in the 500 block of Broadway Street for an equipment violation and another investigation. Police said when they made contact with the vehicle, one suspect later identified as 25-year-old Termaine Deshawn Toles of Waterloo was seen reaching down under his seat.
Toles and several other subjects were detained were detained while officers searched the vehicle. Police said they found a loaded, .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun under Toles' seat. The gun was determined to be stolen, police said.
Toles was arrested and faces charges of carrying weapons and possession of stolen property, both aggravated misdemeanor.
