Group Traveling Across the Country to Raise Money for Childhood Obesity
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A scooter is a fun and easy way to get around, but one group is taking it to an extreme level.
A former athletic trainer and her friends are riding "Y Fliker" scooters from Los Angeles to New York to help fight childhood obesity. The group will ride more than 3,800 miles in hopes of raising money to donate one thousand scooters to schools across the country.
So far the group has received the most donations during their travels through Iowa.
"I can say that people in Iowa have been the most amazing now. The most donations that we got was from here, the most people stopping us on the road was here, so thank you people from Iowa," Waneska Valois, Y Fliker Across America Coordinator, said.
The group plans to be finish their ride in New York by the first week in October.
