Grant Wood Studio Opens for Season
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Visitors can now get a peak into the past at the Grant Wood Studio in Cedar Rapids.
The old art studio re-opened Saturday and will remain open through December.
People can stand right where Wood painted his most famous painting "American Gothic."
Visitors can also tour the studio that served as one of the Cedar Rapids' first performance theaters.
The space has been kept as close to its original condition as possible.
"This place is infectious. And it's not so much that it's where Grant lived, but more importantly where he worked. And what took place in this little space here is what's important," said Dennis Vance, a tour guide at the museum.
The museum hopes to raise enough money this year to restore the painted walls to their original color and condition for a more-natural feel.
