Gas Prices Still Soaring, Could Hit State Patrol Hard

Tools

By Richard Pratt

The price of regular gas in the United States has jumped 33 cents per gallon in the last two weeks.

The Lundberg Survey of fuel prices says it's the second biggest price increase over a two-week span on record.

The average national price of a gallon of regular is $3.51. Here in Eastern Iowa, it's closer to $3.35.

The gas price increases are really hurting the Iowa State Patrol. They are only budgeted for $2.38 a gallon.

If prices stay roughly $1 over their budgeted amount, they could be $800,000 over budget.
