Four People Killed Following Crash in Northeast Iowa

FAYETTE COUNTY, Iowa - Four people were killed following a two vehicle crash near Clermont in Fayette County. The crash happened along Highway 18 northeast of Clermont shortly after 8:45 a.m.

A pick-up truck, driven by Tony Alan Schlee, 57, of Elgin, was traveling east when a westbound van, driven by Shariff Hussein Warsame, 28, of Postville, crossed the highway and struck the truck.

Warsame and three of his passengers, Miski Yahye Mohamed, 34, Khadijo Mohamed, 53, and Maryan M Kulane, 25, all of Postville, died from their injuries.

Schlee and his passenger Pamela Ann Schlee, 58, of Elgin, were trapped and had to be extricated from their vehicle. Both were transported to Palmer Luther Hospital by ambulance and are reported in serious condition.

No further details have been released. The crash remains under investigation.
