DUBUQUE, Iowa - Shane Oswald, the former Hempstead High School Principal charged with sexual exploitation by a school employee, has been released from prison.

According to a notification from the Iowa Department of Corrections, Oswald was released on parole Friday morning.

Court documents revealed a former Hempstead student told police she and Oswald had sex on several occasions while she was an underage student at the school.

In 2010, Oswald entered an Alford Plea. A Dubuque County judge sentenced him to 5 years in prison.
