Former Decorah Attorney to Plead Guilty to Stealing From Clients
DECORAH, Iowa - A former Decorah attorney agreed this week to plead guilty to charges that he stole from several of his clients.
Prosecutors said David Strand, 54, misappropriated more than $40,000 from three clients. They said Strand used the money to partially repay a client he had previously defrauded. Strand also allegedly stole $129,000 in insurance payments from another client.
Strand agreed to plead guilty to three counts of first degree theft and one count of third degree theft.
The state suspended Strand's license to practice law last fall.
