DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — The former dean of a technical college in Iowa has been taken into custody after pleading guilty to trying to arrange a sexual encounter with someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl he met online.

Terry Campie was the dean of the Cedar Rapids campus of the ITT Technical Institute when he was arrested last April 30 in Clinton in a sting carried out by the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The 55-year-old pleaded guilty Monday in federal court in Davenport to one count of attempted enticement of a minor. He faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison when he is sentenced in July.

U.S. District Judge John Jarvey ordered Campie taken into custody immediately after Monday's hearing. Campie had been free on bond.
