DUBUQUE, Iowa - The sizzling sound and aroma of freshly cooked bacon will takeover Dubuque Thursday night. Dubuque's Area Residential Care will host the city's first ever Bacon Fest.

The festival will be held at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds.
They'll be a bacon eating contest, to see who can eat two pounds of the crispy treat. But the main event is the bacon cook off. Local chefs will use the popular ingredient to cook or bake anything they can think of.

"So anything they want from chocolate covered bacon to a chocolate bourbon, a bacon breakfast martini...you name it! It's going to be there if there is bacon in it," organizer Shelby Wartick said.

All of the chefs will be vying for this bacon trophy. The money raised from ticket sales will support the center that aims to help disabled people become more independent.
