IOWA CITY, Iowa – Four Iowa City fire engines responded to a report of a fire coming from a gas line inside Panchero’s located at 32 S. Clinton Street in Iowa City.

Capt. Eric Nurnberg confirmed that it was fire coming out of the gas line in the kitchen.

The first engine that responded found the fire and quickly put it out, he said.

Investigation continues as to what released the gas. Mid America is currently working with the Iowa City Fire Department to determine the cause of the leak.

Firefighters blocked off Washington Street for almost a half hour.
