ANAMOSA, Iowa - Authorities are investigating the presence of drug paraphernalia at an Anamosa residence that caught fire Wednesday afternoon.
According to Assistant Anamosa Fire Chief Ron French, a caller reported the house fire at 12:48 p.m. at 204 N. Huber St.
Upon entry into the house, French said firefighters found drug paraphernalia. Officials would not confirm what type of drug paraphernalia was found at this time. French said the Drug Task Force was going to finish investigating the scene.
Firefighters contained the smoke and flames, requiring the use of fire hoses. The damage was mostly contained to an upstairs room of the two-story residence, French said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
No one was inside the home at the time of the fire, French said, and there are no charges at this time.
Anamosa Fire, Monticello Fire, Anamosa Ambulance Service, the Jones County Sheriff's Office, and the Anamosa Police Department assisted, French said.
One block of N. Huber St. has been blocked off for several hours and officials said it would continue to be blocked for an undetermined amount of time until the investigation is complete.
