WATERLOO, Iowa - Firefighters in Waterloo confirmed they responded to a fire at the Village Inn restaurant Monday morning. Officials arrived on the scene at 212 West Ridgeway Avenue around 4:30 a.m.

Fire officials tell KCRG-TV9 that there was a small pile of rags on fire when they arrived. Firefighters were able to extinguish the rags and there were no injuries.

Because firefighters arrived shortly after the fire began, there was not much damage. Crews are still working to determine what caused the rags to catch on fire. Officials were still at the scene several hours after the fire began.
